Daddyshome truly is a group of at home dads with the goal of providing support, education and advocacy for fathers who are the primary caregivers of their children.
This organization has grown a lot since 3 DC dads decide their should be a national at-home dads organization. New crops of dads have become involved and have moved this organization forward.
But in a lot of ways, Daddyshome is just a toddler. And while we have seen great growth, we don't want to stop there. We want to continue to grow Daddyshome's reach and impact.
While the leaders of Daddyshome have done a great job of doing everything they can with very limited resources, if we want to grow Daddyshome and make sure that it is around not just for us but for the next generation of at-home dads we need to build a firm financial foundation.
That is why, for the first time, Daddyshome is beginning an endowment campaign we call "Change the World"
We have 3 goals for the campaign.
The first is our sustaining goal of $2,500. Reaching this goal would provide a financial foundation for Daddyshome to continue for the next several years.
The second is our strengthening goal of $5,000. Reaching this goal would provide us with the funds to do some of the current goals we have like actively support local dad's groups through grants and business cards which will help them recruit more at-home dads and expanding our online presence.
Our last is our aspirational goal of $10,000. This goal would allow us to do dream projects like combining daddyshome.org with athomedad.org to create one comprehensive presence on the web. We may be able to expand the convention to reach even more dads.
And we have created different giving levels with different benefits.
I know the numbers can sound daunting, but for example giving just $10 a month would be $120 for the year and would put you in the middle of our giving levels. If 50 guys did that we would have $6,000 dollars reaching our strengthening goal.
Also, some board members have stepped up and offered a dollar for dollar challenge grant up to $1000. If you give now your dollar is worth twice as much to Daddyshome.
I know some of you are on very tight budgets to be able to stay at home with your kids. I'm not trying to talk you into giving beyond your means. But others of us have funds to give and I want you to consider Daddyshome as one of those organization you give to.
